Apple TV Sets September Premiere for New Comedy ‘Brothers’ Starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson

Apple TV has revealed the launch date for its upcoming comedy series “Brothers,” an eight-episode original starring Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey and Academy Award nominee Woody Harrelson. The series will debut worldwide on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, with its first two episodes. New installments will then arrive every Wednesday, concluding on November 4, 2026.

Produced by Paramount Television Studios, the comedy is led by showrunner and executive producer Lee Eisenberg, a multi-Emmy Award nominee and Peabody Award winner. McConaughey and Harrelson also serve as executive producers.

The series follows fictionalized versions of the two longtime friends, whose bond is tested after an unexpected revelation threatens to upend everything they thought they knew about their relationship.

According to the official synopsis, “Brothers” follows McConaughey and Harrelson, who play fictionalized versions of themselves, and whose lifelong friendship is thrown into chaos when they uncover a decades-old secret: they might actually be brothers. After Woody’s daughter’s wedding falls apart, he loads up the family and heads to Austin for an extended stay at Matthew’s ranch. But what begins as a healing getaway quickly spirals when Matthew’s mother, Ma Mac (played by Holland Taylor), accidentally lets slip a long-buried secret that the two friends might actually be brothers. As Woody turns the ranch upside down in pursuit of the truth, Matthew finds himself juggling an entirely different identity crisis: a potential run for Governor of Texas. The result is a heartfelt, chaotic and wildly funny story about friendship, family, fame and the messy line between myth and reality.”

Joining McConaughey and Harrelson in the cast are Natalie Martinez, Brittany Ishibashi, Nolan Almeida, Ella Grace Helton, Noah Carganilla, Highdee Kuan, Oona Yaffe and Holland Taylor.

Behind the scenes, the executive producing team includes Eisenberg, McConaughey, Harrelson, Natalie Sandy, David West Read, Trish Hofmann, Bill Bost, Jason Winer, David Finkel, Brett Baer and Jeremy Plager. Trent O’Donnell directs multiple episodes, including the pilot.

The series becomes the latest addition to Apple TV’s growing lineup of original programming, which spans comedy, drama, documentaries, feature films and family entertainment. Since its launch in 2019, the streaming service has built a reputation for award-winning originals, including acclaimed series such as “Ted Lasso,” “Severance,” and “The Studio,” along with films including the Academy Award Best Picture winner “CODA” and the hit racing drama “F1.”

Apple says its original productions have collectively earned hundreds of awards and thousands of nominations, reflecting the platform’s continued investment in premium scripted and unscripted content.
