High Stakes & Major New Additions in Store for Series 2
Created and written by Stephen Butchard (The Last Kingdom) and produced by Left Bank Pictures (The Crown), the Liverpool-set drama became a breakout hit when it debuted in March 2025.
The eight-part second series picks up immediately after the chaotic events of the season one finale. Michael (James Nelson-Joyce) and Diana (Hannah Onslow) have barely set foot in Spain before being dragged back to face severe consequences over the murder of cartel figure Ricardo. Back home in Liverpool, power struggles continue to divide what remains of the gang. Adding fuel to the fire, old-school gangster Ozzie Thompson—fresh out of prison—demands compensation from the firm.
New Cast Members Joining the Fray
Shaun Evans (Until I Kill You, Endeavour) steps into the role of Ozzie Thompson, an old-school criminal associate of the late gang leader Ronnie Phelan (Sean Bean).
Álvaro Morte (Money Heist, The Wheel of Time) joins as Felipe Guzman, a ruthless Colombian cartel operator seeking answers after his brother Ricardo’s murder.

Production & Ratings Success
Series one proved to be a massive viewership driver for the BBC. After launching to an overnight audience of 1.9 million, word-of-mouth catapulted episode one to over 8.2 million viewers. Nearly 3 million fans streamed the series finale on BBC iPlayer prior to its linear broadcast.
Directed once again by lead director Saul Dibb alongside John Hayes and Chris Baugh, filming took place across Liverpool and Spain. International distribution is handled by Sony Pictures Television.
Series one of This City is Ours is available to stream in full on BBC iPlayer now, with Series 2 arriving this autumn.
