BBC One and iPlayer have officially revealed the four celebrity pairs taking on the upcoming fourth installment of the hit BAFTA-winning series, Celebrity Race Across The World. Produced by Studio Lambert, the brand-new season sees a fresh cohort of well-known faces give up their smartphones, credit cards, and daily luxuries to embark on an incredible, budget-strapped journey across the globe.
Meet the Celebrity Teams
To mark the announcement, the cast shared exclusive behind-the-scenes snaps from their travels. The official line-up taking on the challenge includes:
Ella Eyre & Nana: Brit Award-winning singer-songwriter Ella Eyre hits the road alongside her childhood friend, Nana.
Jeff Stelling & Matt Stelling: Veteran sports presenter Jeff Stelling is joined by his son, Matt.
Princess Andre & Junior Andre: Digital influencer Princess Andre teams up with her brother, musician Junior Andre.
Sam Ryder & Kaz: Eurovision runner-up and acclaimed musician Sam Ryder tackles the route with his best friend and tour manager, Kaz.
A 7,500 km Journey Across Borneo to Australia
Spanning 7,500 kilometers across three countries and two continents, the teams will launch their journey from Kuching, situated in the Malaysian state of Sarawak on the island of Borneo. Navigating ancient rainforests and dense wilderness, the pairs must successfully pass through five checkpoints to reach the ultimate finish line on the sun-soaked southern coast of Melbourne, Australia.
With no modern technology, a physical map, and a strict daily budget equivalent to just £26 per person, the celebrities must rely on local transit, sheer resourcefulness, and the generosity of locals to reach their destination.
Tim Harcourt, Chief Creative Officer at Studio Lambert, says: “This year’s pairs navigate a journey that lays bare two extremes of today’s world. We can’t wait to share how they get on. Contestants give unfiltered and honest reactions to the experiences they face that are as demanding as they are joyful. That’s so rare on television and it’s clear audiences love seeing their favourite stars deal with these daring challenges in spectacular worlds.”
Jasmyn McGuile, Commissioning Editor for BBC Factual Entertainment and Events, says: “Audiences have been asking when the Race might reach Australia, so we are delighted that they will be able to experience this unique journey for the first time in Celebrity Race Across the World. With an adventurous start in Borneo’s Sarawak rainforest, another series first, it makes for an unmissable opener for this year’s celebrity teams.”
