The first Strictly Come Dancing results show of 2026 is on BBC One and BBC iPlayer tonight (Sunday 4 October) at 7.10pm, with the 15 couples waiting to discover who will face the first dance-off of the series.
After Saturday night’s Movie Week, the pressure is finally on.
For the first time this series, the public has had its say – and tonight Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe will reveal which two couples have landed in the dreaded bottom two.
The two couples will then go head-to-head in the first dance-off of the 2026 series, with the judges deciding who stays and who becomes the first celebrity to leave the competition.
And there has already been plenty for Strictly fans to discuss, not least Delta Goodrem’s surge to the top of the leaderboard and the reaction to Shirley Ballas’s score for Emmerdale star Lawrence Robb.
Who is top of the Strictly leaderboard?
Delta Goodrem and Kai Widdrington are currently sitting at the top of the combined Strictly leaderboard with 59 points.
The Australian singer followed her impressive 29 points in Week 1 with another 30 for her American Smooth to I’ll Never Love Again from A Star Is Born. That puts her one point ahead of the next two couples.
Behind Delta are Graeme Hall and Lauren Oakley, and Lacey Turner and Vito Coppola, both on 55 points.
Here’s the full leaderboard heading into tonight’s results show:
| Position | Couple | Week 1 | Week 2 | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Delta Goodrem & Kai Widdrington | 29 | 30 | 59 |
| 2= | Graeme Hall & Lauren Oakley | 24 | 31 | 55 |
| 2= | Lacey Turner & Vito Coppola | 27 | 28 | 55 |
| 4 | John Nellis & Katya Jones | 31 | 23 | 54 |
| 5 | Bethany Antonia & Nancy Xu | 26 | 27 | 53 |
| 6 | Tabby Stoecker & Mark Karmalita | 22 | 28 | 50 |
| 7 | Cach Mercer & Maddie Ingoldsby | 20 | 29 | 49 |
| 8 | Dani Dyer & Nikita Kuzmin | 22 | 23 | 45 |
| 9 | Jaime Winstone & Carlos Gu | 21 | 21 | 42 |
| 10 | Shaun Wright-Phillips & Alexis Warr | 15 | 25 | 40 |
| 11= | Lawrence Robb & Jowita Przystał | 20 | 19 | 39 |
| 11= | Dame Sarah Storey & Julian Caillon | 15 | 24 | 39 |
| 13 | Will Best & Dianne Buswell | 18 | 19 | 37 |
| 14 | Chris Appleton & Amy Dowden | 16 | 17 | 33 |
| 15 | Melanie Walters & Aljaž Škorjanec | 15 | 15 | 30 |
The combined scores are from the judges’ Week 1 and Movie Week performances, with the public vote now also feeding into the result.
Delta Goodrem shoots to the top
Delta Goodrem has gone from second place after Week 1 to first place after Movie Week, and she now has the highest combined judges’ score.
Her American Smooth with Kai Widdrington earned 30 points, taking her overall total to 59. She had already impressed with 29 points for her Samba in the opening live show.
That puts Delta in a very strong position going into the first public vote – although the leaderboard alone won’t determine who leaves tonight.
Strictly fans criticise Shirley Ballas over Lawrence Robb score
One of the biggest talking points from Saturday’s show was Lawrence Robb’s score.
The Emmerdale actor and Jowita Przystał performed a Viennese Waltz to Le Festin from Ratatouille, scoring 19 points.
Shirley Ballas awarded Lawrence just four points, the same score given by Craig Revel Horwood. Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke each gave him five and six respectively.
Some Strictly viewers took to social media to complain that the score was too harsh, with fans describing Lawrence and Jowita as having been “robbed” and questioning Shirley’s four-point score. Others, however, agreed with the judges’ criticism of his performance in hold.
Whatever the verdict, the score leaves Lawrence and Jowita joint 11th on the combined leaderboard with 39 points – and potentially vulnerable when the public vote is taken into account.
Who could be in the Strictly dance-off?
At the bottom of the judges’ combined leaderboard are Melanie Walters and Aljaž Škorjanec, with 30 points.
They are followed by Chris Appleton and Amy Dowden on 33 and Will Best and Dianne Buswell on 37.
But the leaderboard does not tell us which two couples will actually dance for survival.
The public vote is being combined with the judges’ scores, meaning a celebrity’s popularity with viewers can make a significant difference. The two couples at the bottom after the vote will face each other in the dance-off.
That leaves several couples waiting nervously to discover their fate.
Where can you watch Matilda the Musical?
Viewers inspired by the special performance on Strictly Come Dancing can also see Matilda The Musical live, as the Royal Shakespeare Company’s award-winning production is currently touring the UK and Ireland. The 2025-27 tour is now heading towards its final venues, with dates in Milton Keynes, Glasgow and Cardiff still to come before the tour ends in January 2027. There is also a West End production at London’s Cambridge Theatre, giving fans plenty of opportunities to see the musical on stage.
What happens on the Strictly results show tonight?
Tonight is the first results show of the series, and all 15 couples will gather in the ballroom to discover who is safe and who is heading into the dance-off.
There is also plenty of entertainment away from the competition.
Motsi Mabuse and Craig Revel Horwood lead the professional dancers in a high-fashion group number, while the cast of Tim Minchin and the RSC’s Matilda the Musical will perform.
Then Emma, Josh and Jojo will reveal the two couples who must dance again.
Who will be the first Strictly contestant to leave?
That’s the big question facing Strictly fans tonight.
The judges’ scores have already created a leaderboard, but the public vote will determine which couples are vulnerable. The bottom two will then perform again in the dance-off, with Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke deciding which couple should continue.
So even if your favourite is near the bottom of the judges’ leaderboard, there is still everything to play for.
What time is the Strictly results show tonight?
Strictly Come Dancing’s Week 2 Results Show is on BBC One and BBC iPlayer tonight, Sunday 4 October, at 7.10pm.
It is the first elimination of Strictly Come Dancing 2026, following the opening public vote of the series.
With Delta Goodrem now sitting at the top, Melanie Walters at the bottom and Lawrence Robb attracting plenty of attention after his four from Shirley, there is certainly no shortage of talking points before the first dance-off begins.
