Sun, Sea, and Slow-Mo: First Trailer Drops for the New Baywatch Reboot

The iconic red swimsuits are officially back. Today, fans got their first proper look at the upcoming Baywatch reboot as the first official trailer dropped, teasing a sleek, high-adrenaline return to the sun-soaked shores of Southern California.

More than 25 years after the original global phenomenon wrapped its 11-season run, the brand-new drama series is gearing up for a 12-episode first season produced as a co-production between FOX Entertainment and Fremantle.

Here is everything you need to know about what the fresh footage revealed, who is joining the team, and where you can watch the new series in the UK.

What Does the New Trailer Reveal?

Unlike the 2017 feature film starring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron—which leaned heavily into comedy and self-aware satire—the new television series promises a grounded, action-packed dramatic reboot.

The initial teaser showcases a fresh generation of lifeguards patrolling the dangerous California coastline. True to the franchise’s heritage, viewers can expect a mix of high-stakes ocean rescues, intense personal rivalries, complex romance, and plenty of beachside heroics tailored for modern television audiences.

Who Stars in the New Baywatch?

Leading the squad is Stephen Amell (Arrow), taking on the central role of Hobie Buchannon. He is joined by an energetic main cast including:

  • Shay Mitchell as Trina
  • Jessica Belkin as Charlie Vale
  • Hassie Harrison as Nat
  • Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad
  • Noah Beck as Luke
  • Brooks Nader as Selene
  • Livvy Dunne in a recurring role as Grace

Returning Fan Favourites

While the main patrol features fresh faces, long-time fans have plenty of legacy connections to look forward to:

  • David Chokachi returns to reprise his fan-favourite role as Cody Madison.
  • Erika Eleniak makes a special guest appearance, stepping back into the shoes of Shauni McClain.

Where and When to Watch in the UK & US

UK viewers will be able to stream and watch the new series exclusively on Sky and NOW when it premieres in 2027. Across the Atlantic, the reboot will air on FOX in the United States.

Speaking on the UK broadcast partnership, Lucy Criddle, Director of Acquisitions & Strategic Projects at Sky, shared:

“Baywatch is one of the most iconic television franchises of all time, and this bold new reimagining will deliver the sun, sea and high-stakes drama audiences know and love, while introducing a dynamic new cast for a new generation of fans.”

Fremantle’s Jamie Lynn added that the updated series delivers “the sun-soaked drama and signature energy people love, on an even bigger scale.”
