sky tv releases trailer for boyzone one for the road

The trailer has today been released for Boyzone: One for the Road, a new Sky documentary following the iconic Irish boyband as they prepare for what could be their final reunion.

The one-off special follows the phenomenal success of Boyzone: No Matter What, Sky’s record-breaking three-part documentary that reignited global affection for the group and their music.

This summer, Boyzone reunited for two landmark gigs at Emirates Stadium in a long-awaited and deeply emotional comeback that many fans had once believed would never happen.

Now, One for the Road will take viewers behind the scenes of that historic reunion, exploring the personal relationships, unresolved tensions and unfinished business that remain between the band members as they prepare to take to the stage together for the last time.

What is Boyzone: One for the Road about?

Against the backdrop of decades of shared history and thousands of expectant fans, the documentary follows Boyzone as they attempt to deliver the farewell they have always wanted.

The band return with unfinished business from their final tour in 2019, determined to do things on their own terms and give both themselves and their devoted supporters the send-off they deserve.

Described as warm, funny, raw and revealing, Boyzone: One for the Road explores friendship, forgiveness, ageing and legacy, while celebrating the enduring bond between the band and the fans who have stood by them throughout their career.

The documentary promises an intimate look at the group as they reflect on their journey, confront the past and prepare for a reunion that carries enormous emotional significance.

What have Sky bosses said about the Boyzone documentary?

The follow-up comes after the extraordinary response to Boyzone: No Matter What, which attracted widespread attention for its candid portrayal of the band and their personal experiences.

Executive producer Dov Freedman said: “The response to the series was incredible, breaking records for the Sky Docs team. I think audiences really engaged in a celebrity doc with such raw truth and honesty”

He added: “We’re incredibly privileged to be working with the boys again and telling the story of their final chapter”

Hayley Reynolds, Head of Documentary Commissioning at Sky, also welcomed the return, saying: “Boyzone: No Matter What sparked an extraordinary outpouring of love for the band, and we’re thrilled to be working with Curious again to document this landmark reunion — something that may never have happened had the boys not approached telling their story with such honesty and candid testimony.”

The new special is produced by Curious Films and directed by Caroline Sciama, with Dov Freedman and Charlie Russell serving as executive producers.

The documentary is commissioned by Phil Edgar-Jones, Executive Director of Unscripted Originals at Sky, for Cécile Frot-Coutaz, Chief Advertising and Content Officer at Sky and CEO of Sky Studios. Hayley Reynolds is Head of Documentary Commissioning, with Jo Hughes serving as Commissioning Editor for Sky.

With the trailer now released, fans can get their first glimpse of the emotional story behind Boyzone’s landmark reunion and the band’s preparations for what could be their final time together on stage.

Following the success of No Matter What, the new special promises another revealing chapter in the story of one of pop’s most iconic boybands — and a tribute to the fans who have remained with them through every stage of their journey.
