After weeks of shocking betrayals, spectacular blunders, emotional exits and some seriously unexpected twists, The Celebrity Traitors is finally reaching its dramatic conclusion.
The BBC’s celebrity version of the hit reality game show has kept viewers guessing throughout its second series, with 21 famous faces entering Ardross Castle in the hope of outsmarting their fellow contestants and winning up to £100,000 for charity.
But tonight, Friday, October 30, it all comes down to the final seven.
Who will emerge victorious? Will the Faithful finally expose the remaining Traitors, or will the ultimate deception see the Traitors walk away with the prize?
Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, the extended finale airs at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
And there’s another treat for fans afterwards, as The Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked reunites this year’s players at 9.20pm, with Ed Gamble hosting the companion show.
Who is still in The Celebrity Traitors final?
Seven celebrities are still in the running heading into tonight’s final, although not all of them are quite what they seem.
The remaining contestants are:
- Maya Jama – Traitor
- King Kenny – Traitor
- Michael Sheen – Faithful
- Sebastian Croft – Faithful
- James Blunt – Faithful
- Leigh-Anne Pinnock – Faithful
- Romesh Ranganathan – Faithful
There are two Traitors and five Faithfuls remaining.
The Faithful have managed to uncover several Traitors throughout the series, but Maya Jama and King Kenny are still standing.
One more Faithful is expected to be murdered as the finale begins, leaving the remaining players with one last opportunity to identify the people secretly working against them.
What happened in The Celebrity Traitors this series?
It has certainly been a series to remember.
From Richard E Grant’s extraordinary opening blunder to James Acaster’s astonishing decision to confess to being a Traitor, the second series has delivered plenty of unforgettable moments.
Twenty-one celebrities arrived at the castle, but the numbers have gradually dwindled as the Traitors plotted their murders and the Faithful attempted to uncover the truth.
Richard E Grant’s incredible Traitor blunder
One of the most extraordinary moments came right at the beginning.
Actor Richard E Grant was selected as one of the original Traitors alongside Maya Jama.
However, in a moment that immediately set the tone for the series, he accidentally revealed his secret identity to fellow contestant Joe Lycett.
He attempted to backtrack, but the damage had been done.
The other players quickly became suspicious, and Grant was banished at the first Round Table, becoming the first Traitor to leave the castle.
It was an astonishing start, and one that would have major consequences for the rest of the game.
The early murders and banishments
As the game continued, the remaining celebrities began turning on one another.
Amol Rajan, Bella Ramsey, Myha’la, Rob Beckett and Julie Hesmondhalgh were among the early departures, with the Traitors steadily reducing the number of Faithfuls in the castle.
Hannah Fry was subsequently recruited as a Traitor, but her time in the role was relatively short.
She was eventually banished after the others began to suspect her.
The game then became increasingly unpredictable, with players struggling to work out who they could trust.
Ross Kemp’s murder in plain sight
One of the biggest twists came with the murder of Ross Kemp.
In an unusual challenge, the Traitors were tasked with murdering a contestant in plain sight, using a perfume bottle and a carefully timed yawn.
It was a particularly sneaky operation, and Ross became the victim.
The murder would later become hugely significant, as the circumstances surrounding his death helped Michael Sheen piece together what had happened.
Joe Lycett was also banished during this period, while Miranda Hart and Jerry Hall became further casualties of the game.
Miranda’s departure was particularly memorable, having provided viewers with plenty of comic moments throughout her time at the castle.
Maya Jama recruits King Kenny
With the Traitors repeatedly losing members, Maya Jama needed to strengthen her position.
Enter King Kenny.
The social media star was recruited into the secret group, transforming the dynamic of the game.
However, James Acaster was also recruited, despite making it clear that being a Traitor was not what he had wanted.
The changing numbers and recruitment twists made it increasingly difficult for the Faithful to establish exactly how many Traitors remained.
And as the game progressed, the tension around the Round Table continued to build.
James Acaster’s extraordinary confession
Perhaps the most talked-about moment of the entire series came in Thursday night’s penultimate episode.
James Acaster had been under increasing pressure, with Michael Sheen examining the events surrounding Ross Kemp’s murder.
Sheen began putting together the clues, questioning why Acaster had remained in the library when others had left.
The comedian struggled to defend himself as suspicion mounted.
But then came a moment nobody expected.
Rather than continue trying to convince the others he was innocent, Acaster admitted the truth.
He revealed that he had been made a Traitor, explaining that he had never wanted the role and had always wanted to be a Faithful.
His extraordinary confession stunned the other contestants.
He was subsequently banished, confirming his identity as a Traitor.
The decision also sparked plenty of debate among viewers, with some questioning whether he had effectively handed the game to the Faithful, while others sympathised with his difficult position.
It was an extraordinary end to his time in the castle.
Joanne McNally and Sharon Rooney leave
Thursday’s episode also delivered two further departures.
Joanne McNally was banished after a tied vote was settled by King Kenny’s deciding double vote.
Sharon Rooney was then murdered by the Traitors.
That left seven players heading into tonight’s finale, with Maya Jama and King Kenny the last remaining Traitors.
The prize pot also reached £64,500 following the latest mission.
Who will win The Celebrity Traitors?
Everything is now set up for a dramatic final.
Maya Jama and King Kenny will be hoping to keep their identities hidden long enough to claim victory.
Meanwhile, the five remaining Faithfuls must work together to ensure that no Traitor survives the final stages of the game.
The rules mean that if the Faithful successfully eliminate all the remaining Traitors, they will share the prize money between their chosen charities.
However, if a Traitor survives until the end, the prize goes to the Traitor or Traitors.
With up to £100,000 available for charity, there is plenty at stake.
Will Maya manage to outwit everyone? Can King Kenny keep his secret? Or will Michael Sheen finally get the answers he has been searching for?
The winner will be revealed during tonight’s live-to-view BBC finale. We will update this article as soon as the result is announced.
