It’s another star-studded night on The Graham Norton Show, with Graham welcoming an extraordinary collection of acting talent to his famous red sofa.
Tonight’s line-up brings together Oscar-winning screen legend Dame Judi Dench, Scottish actor and presenter Alan Cumming, Bridgerton and Derry Girls favourite Nicola Coughlan, and Severance star Tramell Tillman.
With a fascinating mix of stories from stage and screen, there should be plenty for Graham to get his teeth into, from Judi’s wonderfully candid memoir to Alan’s return to the British stage and Nicola’s latest challenging television role.
There is also a musical performance from James Blunt, who will be taking to the stage to perform his current single, Circles.
The Graham Norton Show airs tonight at 10.35pm on BBC One, with the episode also available on BBC iPlayer.
Dame Judi Dench discusses her candid new memoir
One of Britain’s most treasured acting talents, Dame Judi Dench is sure to bring plenty of warmth, wit and fascinating anecdotes to Graham’s sofa.
The Oscar-winning actress is appearing to discuss her new memoir, Is It Too Late to Make a Run for It?, a candid and entertaining look back at her extraordinary life and career.
Written with her friend Brendan O’Hea, the book offers readers a more personal insight into the woman behind some of cinema and theatre’s most memorable performances.
Dench has enjoyed a career spanning decades, becoming one of the most respected performers of her generation. Her many screen credits include her celebrated portrayal of M in the James Bond films, as well as Shakespeare in Love, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
She has also earned widespread acclaim for performances in Philomena, Mrs Brown and Notes on a Scandal, alongside an illustrious career on the stage.
With such an extraordinary career behind her, there should be no shortage of stories as she reflects on life, fame, friendship and the experiences that have shaped her.
Alan Cumming returns to the UK stage in My Fair Lady
Scottish star Alan Cumming is also joining Graham for a catch-up, with the actor preparing to return to the UK stage in a major production of the much-loved musical My Fair Lady.
Cumming has enjoyed an exceptionally varied career across film, television and theatre, becoming a familiar face to audiences on both sides of the Atlantic.
His screen credits include The Good Wife, The Traitors US, X2: X-Men United and Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion. He has also earned considerable recognition for his theatre work, including a Tony Award for his performance in the Broadway revival of Cabaret.
He is now taking on the iconic role of Henry Higgins in a new chamber production of My Fair Lady at Pitlochry Festival Theatre in Scotland.
The production is directed by Maria Friedman and marks a particularly significant moment for Cumming, who is also the theatre’s artistic director.
Based on George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion, with music by Frederick Loewe and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, My Fair Lady follows Professor Henry Higgins, who takes on the challenge of transforming working-class flower seller Eliza Doolittle into a sophisticated society lady.
The classic musical features much-loved songs including Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?, The Rain in Spain and I Could Have Danced All Night.
Nicola Coughlan takes on a powerful new role in I Am Helen
Best known for her much-loved roles in Derry Girls and Bridgerton, Nicola Coughlan is swapping period costumes and comedy for something considerably darker in her latest television project.
The actress will be discussing I Am Helen, the latest instalment of Channel 4’s acclaimed I Am drama anthology.
Created, written and directed by Dominic Savage, the drama sees Coughlan star opposite Peaky Blinders and Gangs of London actor Joe Cole.
Coughlan plays Helen, a woman whose five-year relationship with her partner Steve (Cole) is beginning to unravel as his increasingly toxic behaviour threatens to take over their lives.
As Helen tries to understand the changes in her partner, the drama explores the impact of toxic masculinity, aggression and the pressures women face in relationships shaped by controlling attitudes.
Developed collaboratively by Savage and Coughlan, the story promises an emotionally powerful and thought-provoking examination of modern relationships.
The I Am anthology has previously featured acclaimed performances from Vicky McClure, Samantha Morton, Gemma Chan, Suranne Jones, Letitia Wright and Kate Winslet, whose performance in I Am Ruth earned widespread acclaim and major awards recognition.
With Coughlan taking centre stage in the latest story, this is a particularly interesting departure for an actress audiences have become accustomed to seeing in very different roles.
Tramell Tillman talks new Christmas film Ebenezer
Joining the sofa from the world of Severance is American actor Tramell Tillman, who has become one of television’s most recognisable faces thanks to his memorable portrayal of Seth Milchick in Apple’s hugely popular science-fiction thriller.
In Severance, Tillman plays the unsettlingly cheerful manager of the Macrodata Refinement department at Lumon Industries, a character whose polished exterior often conceals something much more sinister.
His performance has helped establish him as one of the show’s standout stars, earning him significant industry recognition.
However, his latest project takes him into very different territory.
Tillman is appearing to promote Ebenezer, a new cinematic reimagining of Charles Dickens’ timeless Christmas classic A Christmas Carol.
Directed by Ti West, best known for his work on the X horror trilogy, the film stars Johnny Depp as the famously miserly Ebenezer Scrooge.
The story follows Scrooge on a supernatural journey through his past, present and future, as he is confronted with the possibility of redemption and a second chance.
Tillman plays the Ghost of Christmas Present, one of the three spirits who visit Scrooge on Christmas Eve.
The impressive cast also includes Rupert Grint, Daisy Ridley, Sam Claflin, Andrea Riseborough and Sir Ian McKellen.
With a darker, more gothic approach to one of the most familiar Christmas stories ever told, Ebenezer offers a fresh take on Dickens’ much-loved tale.
James Blunt performs latest single Circles
Providing tonight’s musical entertainment is singer-songwriter James Blunt, who will perform his current single Circles.
The singer became a global star with his breakthrough hit You’re Beautiful, which topped charts around the world and helped establish his debut album Back to Bedlam as a huge commercial success.
He has since enjoyed further hits with songs including Goodbye My Lover, 1973, Bonfire Heart and Stay the Night.
Known for his distinctive voice, self-deprecating humour and willingness to poke fun at his own public image, Blunt should also make for an entertaining addition to the evening’s conversation.
Tonight, he will be performing Circles, the latest track from his new musical chapter.
