Apple TV+ unveils trailer for 'Smoke'
Today, Apple TV+ released the trailer for its upcoming crime drama “Smoke,” reuniting the creative minds behind the critically acclaimed limited series “Black Bird,” and starring and executive produced by Emmy nominee Taron Egerton. The series is set to premiere globally on Apple TV+ on June 27, 2025, with the first two episodes dropping at launch, followed by weekly episodes every Friday through August 15, 2025.
Created and written by Dennis Lehane and inspired by real events, “Smoke” follows an arson investigator forced into an uneasy partnership with a police detective as they race against time to stop a pair of arsonists, sparking a dark web of secrets and suspicion. Egerton stars as arson investigator Dave Gudsen, alongside Emmy nominee Jurnee Smollett as police detective Michelle Calderone. The ensemble cast also includes Rafe Spall, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Hannah Emily Anderson, Emmy nominee Anna Chlumsky, Adina Porter, Academy Award and Emmy nominee Greg Kinnear, and Emmy winner John Leguizamo. The main title song, written and performed by Thom Yorke, is now available on Apple Music and all major streaming platforms.

Produced by Apple Studios, “Smoke” is the brainchild of Lehane, who also serves as writer and executive producer. Egerton executive produces alongside Richard Plepler for EDEN Productions, Bradley Thomas and Dan Friedkin for Imperative Entertainment, and Kari Skogland, Joe Chappelle, and Jane Bartelme. The fictional series draws inspiration from truth.media’s acclaimed podcast “Firebug”, hosted by Academy Award and Emmy winner Kary Antholis, who executive produces for Crime Story Media, LLC. Emmy winner Marc Smerling also serves as executive producer for Truth Podcasting Corp. Directing duties are shared by Skogland, Chappelle, and Jim McKay.
