BBC Radio's Pulp concerts to be available to watch online
Pulp will perform two live concerts for the BBC, one for Radio 2 and one for Radio 6 and fans will be able to watch them both.
Where to Watch Pulp’s BBC 6 Music session
On 6 Music and BBC Sounds, Pulp’s intimate session - called 6 Music Session: Pulp Live - will be broadcast in Nick Grimshaw’s show on Thursday 29 May (7-10am), alongside an interview between Nick and the band. The 6 Music session follows the station’s world premiere of Pulp’s new single, Spike Island, which was shared by Lauren Laverne on her 6 Music show (weekdays 10am-1pm) on Thursday 10 April.
Pulp’s 6 Music performance will be available in vision on BBC iPlayer from Thursday 29 May and on demand for 30 days.
Where to Watch Pulp in Concert for Radio 2
Pulp will perform live for BBC Radio 2 on Thursday 29 May, but fans will also be able to watch it on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer in June.
Pulp will perform in front of a small audience of lucky fans at the BBC Radio Theatre on Wednesday 7 May. It will be broadcast in Jo Whiley’s show on Radio 2 and BBC Sounds (7-9pm) on Thursday 29 May, which will also feature an interview. On Friday 30 May, The Scott Mills Breakfast Show (6.30-9.30am) on Radio 2 will also feature some exclusive tracks from the recording from 9am.
Jarvis Cocker of Pulp, says: “We are really looking forward to this. From my time at 6 Music, I remember that the BBC Radio Theatre is a very intimate venue. As long as we can fit all our equipment in there it’s going to be great to play some songs for Radio 2 and 6 Music.”
Nick Grimshaw says: “It was amazing to hear Pulp’s new music exclusively on Lauren’s show last week. I’m so excited to hear more from their new album as part of their 6 Music session and to speak to the band about the process of writing and recording their first album in almost 24 years.”
Jo Whiley says: “I have been a fan of Pulp for as long as I have been presenting on the radio, and it’s a joy to still be following their hugely successful career all these years later. I’m so looking forward to hearing all those songs that have such personal significance to me - and to our Radio 2 listeners - as they play to a small audience of lucky fans in the BBC Radio Theatre next month.”
Jeff Smith, Head of Music for Radio 2 and 6 Music, says: “Pulp are one of the UK’s most loved bands, with a steady stream of hits and songs that have grown in popularity and status over the years. I’m delighted that the band have agreed to give the BBC two contrasting sets, one for Radio 2 appealing to musical mainstream audiences and another for 6 Music whose listeners’ tastes lie beyond the mainstream.”
Pulp is a British indie rock band that was founded in 1978 in Sheffield.
