The new pre-recorded series replaces Big Brother: Late and Live, which saw presenters Aj Odudu and Will Best joined by a studio audience and special guests.
Now the presenters have very little to do, only fronting the live eviction shows.
This new version sees former Big Brother Kate Lawler and GB Barry presenting a visual podcast in which they discuss what happened in that night’s episode.
But fans called the format “flat” and “boring” and called producers out for the lack of clips from the show.
It follows further cuts to the series, which have seen the live feed axed and fewer clips distributed via socials, meaning viewers have to tune in at 9pm if they want to see any action.
Fans took to socials to share their distain for the new format, with @sparkloaf26 summing things up, posting “This big brother group chat ahow is crap #bbuk”
@Mr_Light_Man wrote “It was dire. This won’t be back next year, and I’ll be amazed if it doesn’t get canned mid series tbh. Get these two presenting Late & Live, make some tweaks, actually put it on after evictions, you’ll have a good aftershow.
Or just bring back the live stream! #BBUK”
@jack62390 wrote “what on earth have@ITVX done to @bbuk the spin off show is rubbish bring back big on the side”
@barc0laisRapid wrote “you need a live audience thats what big brothers about public views opinions this new group chat thing is like paint drying and you have killed the show you need late and live to tie in with the show the podcast thing should be a bitesize thing online”
@lukejamessss95 wrote “Bring back the best one #bbbots ! The group chat is absolutely dreadful. At least late and live had a studio audience too. This just screams temu budget”.
