YAGA Trailer Unveils a Dark New Mystery Thriller Starring Carrie-Anne Moss and Hudson Williams

A new mystery is brewing in a remote coastal town in YAGA, the upcoming supernatural thriller starring Carrie-Anne Moss, Noah Reid, Clark Backo and Hudson Williams.

Created and written by Kat Sandler, the eight-episode series puts a contemporary spin on the folklore surrounding Baba Yaga. The newly released trailer offers a glimpse of a story filled with disappearances, dangerous secrets, complicated relationships and hints of something far more supernatural lurking beneath the surface.

The series centers on Rapp (Noah Reid), a private investigator who travels to a small coastal community to find Henry Park (Hudson Williams), the young heir to a powerful local fishery who has mysteriously disappeared.

What initially appears to be a straightforward investigation soon becomes considerably more complicated. Rapp finds himself navigating tensions with local detective Carson (Clark Backo), while also crossing paths with Katherine (Carrie-Anne Moss), a charismatic university professor whose relationships with younger men have made her a particularly intriguing figure in the investigation.

As Rapp digs deeper, he encounters an increasingly tangled network of suspects and hidden lives. The case also begins to take on an unsettling supernatural dimension, with ancient magic and the legend of Baba Yaga woven into the mystery.

The series is based on Sandler’s acclaimed stage play and reimagines the traditional Slavic folklore figure in a modern setting. Rather than presenting a straightforward adaptation of the legend, YAGA uses its mythology as the foundation for a contemporary mystery that blends crime, supernatural elements and psychological intrigue.

Williams leads the ensemble as Henry Park, following his breakout role in Heated Rivalry, while Moss brings her The Matrix experience to the role of Katherine. Reid, best known for Schitt’s Creek, plays the investigator at the center of the story, with Backo portraying the local detective assigned to the case.

The supporting cast includes Sheila McCarthy, Megan Follows, Ezra Franky, Patrick Gilmore, Katharine Isabelle, Hiro Kanagawa, Emilija Baranac, Georgia Acken, Anisa Harris and Sam Krochmal.

Behind the camera, David Frazee and Rachel Talalay serve as co-directors. Mackenzie Donaldson, Andrew Miller and Carrie-Anne Moss are executive producers, with Charles Cooper serving as producer. The series is produced by Blink49 Studios and Front Street Pictures in association with Bell Media’s Crave. International distribution is handled by Sphere Abacus.

When does YAGA premiere?

Release dates vary by territory.

In the U.S., YAGA premieres exclusively on AMC+ on October 23, 2026, with the first two episodes arriving on premiere day. The remaining episodes will follow as the eight-part series rolls out.

In Canada, the series will premiere on Crave.

In the UK and Ireland, YAGA will be available exclusively on Sky and NOW, with the UK premiere scheduled for October 31.

How to watch YAGA in the U.S.

American viewers will be able to stream YAGA exclusively through AMC+. AMC Global Media acquired the U.S. streaming rights earlier this year, confirming the series as an AMC+ original for American audiences.

The service is available directly through AMC+ as well as through participating third-party platforms.

With its mix of mystery, folklore and supernatural suspense, YAGA is shaping up as a distinctly modern take on the Baba Yaga myth — one that places an unexplained disappearance at the center of a much larger web of secrets.
