What is Possession about?

Created and written by Karla Crome, Possession follows ambitious young lawyer Claudia, played by Gugu Mbatha-Raw, who travels from the UK to Jamaica to contest an inheritance claim.

Claudia is tasked with challenging local resident Cudjoe East’s claim against wealthy aristocrat Oliver Connaught. However, what begins as a legal dispute quickly becomes something far more unsettling when Claudia discovers the estate at the centre of the case is Hope Hill – the former plantation that has haunted her nightmares for years.

As Claudia and Oliver investigate the property’s history, they uncover disturbing connections between the plantation’s violent past and the inequalities that continue to shape lives in the present day.

Sky describes the series as a bold, genre-blending thriller that combines supernatural mystery with the vibrant atmosphere of the Caribbean while examining the enduring legacy of colonialism.
