The Celebrity Traitors: Who got banished tonight?

Contains Spoilers: Julie Hesmondhalgh’s time on The Celebrity Traitors has come to an end, with the Coronation Street star caught up in the increasingly ruthless game of suspicion, deception and betrayal.

“Alas it may mean that I am not a phenomenal actor, I am indeed a faithful” she said.

The actress, best known for playing Hayley Cropper in the ITV soap, has been banished from the BBC reality competition following another tense roundtable, as the remaining celebrities continue their desperate search for the Traitors hiding among them.

The votes did look like they were going to swing towards Hannah, but even Miranda changed her mind at the last minute. “I’m so angry now I wrote that name” she said, as Hannah looked on upset.

Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, the second series has already delivered some extraordinary twists, including the downfall of Traitor Richard E Grant and the shock banishment of Faithful contestant Myha’la. Now, Julie’s departure adds another major talking point to a game in which even the most convincing players can find themselves on the wrong side of an accusation.

Julie Hesmondhalgh Comes Under Increasing Suspicion

Julie entered the competition determined to identify the Traitors and help the Faithful secure the prize money for their chosen charities.

However, the actress quickly demonstrated that she was prepared to throw herself into the game, developing theories about her fellow contestants and becoming increasingly confident in her suspicions.

Her role in the banishment of Richard E Grant initially appeared to put her on the right track. The actor had made the extraordinary mistake of openly declaring himself a Traitor, and Julie was among those who insisted that the group could not afford to ignore his admission.

Richard’s exit proved to be a significant moment for the Faithful, as they finally succeeded in banishing one of the people secretly working against them.

But the celebrations were short-lived.

The Traitors were able to recruit Professor Hannah Fry following Richard’s departure, ensuring that the Faithful’s success did not necessarily leave them any closer to winning the game.

Julie subsequently found herself navigating an increasingly complicated web of accusations, with the remaining contestants struggling to distinguish genuine suspicions from carefully orchestrated deception.

Bella Ramsey’s Murder Changes Everything

The latest developments followed the shocking murder of Bella Ramsey, who was targeted by the Traitors after they concluded that the actor was too intelligent and perceptive to leave in the game.

Bella’s departure sent fresh waves of suspicion through the castle, forcing the remaining celebrities to reconsider their theories about who might be responsible.

The murder also intensified scrutiny of Hannah Fry, whose recent recruitment had placed her in a particularly dangerous position. Miranda Hart began questioning Hannah’s behaviour, while other contestants also started examining the mathematician’s actions more closely.

At the same time, the Traitors needed to ensure that suspicion did not settle too firmly on their own group.

Maya Jama and James Acaster had already demonstrated their willingness to sacrifice allies to protect themselves, most notably when they voted against Richard E Grant.

With the game becoming increasingly unpredictable, Julie’s own theories and relationships with the other contestants became crucial to her survival.

Another Shock for the Faithful

Julie had previously appeared to be making progress in the game after helping to expose Richard, but identifying one Traitor does not guarantee success in a competition where the hidden players can recruit replacements.

The banishment of Myha’la was a particularly painful lesson for the Faithful. Despite their confidence in their accusations, the actress revealed that she had been innocent all along, leaving the group to confront the possibility that they had made another serious mistake.

Julie had been convinced that Myha’la’s behaviour around Richard was suspicious, and her subsequent banishment demonstrated just how easily the contestants could be led astray.

For the remaining Faithful, Julie’s departure is another reminder that confidence and conviction are not always enough to uncover the truth.

As the round table began, it looked as though it was a dead cert Hannah would go, but in a clever response to Miranda Hannah begged the faithful not to vote for “the obvious”. It left Miranda admitting to feeling embaressed and angry as Julie went home.

The Traitors, meanwhile, continue to benefit whenever the group turns against itself rather than focusing on the people secretly controlling the game.

Who Will Be Next to Leave The Celebrity Traitors?

With Julie now out of the competition, the remaining celebrities face another difficult challenge as they attempt to uncover the identities of the Traitors before it is too late.

Maya Jama, James Acaster and Hannah Fry must continue to maintain their cover while encouraging suspicion to fall elsewhere. Their biggest challenge may be keeping their own stories consistent as the Faithful begin to compare notes and reconsider earlier decisions.

Miranda Hart has already started questioning Hannah, while other contestants have been developing their own theories about the people around them. James Blunt finds himself under suspicion after leading the charge against Julie. “I just feel so stupid” he admitted afterwards.

The danger for the Faithful is that every incorrect accusation removes another potential ally and gives the Traitors more room to manoeuvre.

With each banishment and murder changing the balance of the game, the remaining contestants will need to be more careful than ever about whom they trust.

The Traitors returned to the turret where Maya gave James and Hannah a telling off for being too nice. Claudia then joined them with news of a twist. “You’re not going to murder as usual. I thought we’d play a little game… a deathly game of hide and seek. You must choose four players. Those unlucky four they’re going to run deep into the woods and hide into the castle crypts”, she said. “Here they will await their fete”. “You will decide who to murder, face to face”.

“You can choose one of yourselves if you so wish”, Claudia continued.

Who did the Celebrity Traitors choose to play hide and seek?

The Traitors chose Romesh, Leigh-Anne, Ross and Rob in a bid to confuse the faithful. In an additional twist, the four then had the chance to choose which of them should win a key to safety, meaning they couldn’t be murdered. It was decided Leigh-Anne would have the key and could not be murdered.

One of the others will be murdered in the next episode.

The Celebrity Traitors Continues on BBC One

The Celebrity Traitors continues to deliver dramatic television, with celebrity friendships being tested and alliances changing as the competition progresses.

Julie’s exit marks another major turning point in a series that has already seen a Traitor banished, an innocent contestant wrongly accused and a new recruit brought into the secret group.

As the remaining celebrities return to the roundtable, the question is whether the Faithful can finally turn their suspicions into another successful banishment — or whether the Traitors will once again manage to stay one step ahead.

Fans now have to wait until next Thursday to see how long Hannah can survive.

The Celebrity Traitors airs on BBC One and is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
