When do the paralympic winter games start on channel 4

Channel 4 will proudly present a world-class on-screen line-up of leading presenters and para-athletes for the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games, underscoring its enduring dedication to inclusive representation.

With over 60 hours of live sport broadcast from the Italian Dolomites across Channel 4 and Channel 4 Streaming — and every moment available via Channel 4 Sport’s YouTube — Channel 4 continues its trailblazing legacy of delivering accessible Paralympics coverage. All programming will be subtitled, live broadcasts will offer audio description from 10:30am daily, and the evening highlights show will include live British Sign Language translation. Additionally, the Opening and Closing Ceremonies will be simulcast on 4seven and Channel 4 Streaming with BSL and open descriptive commentary.

The Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games commence on Friday 6th March and conclude on Sunday 15th March, marking the first Winter Paralympics held in a UK-friendly time zone in two decades. Across the 10-day competition, coverage begins at breakfast and follows the day’s live events, with highlights airing nightly at 6:30pm. Every televised event will also stream on Channel 4 Sport’s YouTube channel.

Racing driver-turned-presenter Billy Monger and adventurer and former rugby union player Ed Jackson will host Paralympics Breakfast and guide viewers through the day’s action, while award-winning presenter Ade Adepitan leads the daily highlights programme.

Britain’s most decorated Paralympian, Dame Sarah Storey, alongside multi-gold-medal swimming champion Alice Tai, joins the team reporting live from events in Cortina, as well as sharing athlete stories and meeting their friends and families.

Former ParalympicsGB sit-skier Sean Rose returns as pundit, with ex-ParalympicsGB alpine skier and medallist Jade Etherington serving as commentator.

Dame Sarah Storey said: “I’m thrilled to be part of the Channel 4 presenting team for this year’s Winter Paralympics and can’t wait to get started. It’s a wonderful opportunity to see a Winter Games in person and to be tasked with sharing the stories of the incredible athletes taking part in Milano Cortina, as well as helping to bring their achievements and journeys to life for audiences across Channel 4.”

Ian Katz, Chief Content Officer at Channel 4, said: “We are incredibly proud to have such a fantastic on-screen team once again for the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games, whilst showcasing ParalympicsGB and the extraordinary British athletes competing on the world stage. Welcoming Dame Sarah Storey and Alice Tai to our presenting line-up alongside some of the UK’s most respected Paralympic broadcasters reflects our continued commitment to inclusive representation and championing talent.

“This Winter Paralympics sees us continue to work in partnership with the talented team at Whisper, with our remote production based at our state-of-the-art, accessible Cymru Broadcast Centre in Cardiff for a second Paralympics. The coverage reflects the scale of our ambition both on and off screen, from the studio high in the Dolomites to the skilled teams in Cardiff, as we deliver world-class, accessible coverage that brings audiences closer than ever to the drama, excitement and brilliance of the Winter Paralympics.”

Coverage of the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games is produced for Channel 4 by Whisper, with the Cortina studio located in a mountain-top restaurant 1,778 metres above sea level in the Dolomites. Remote galleries and the back-of-house production team will operate from Cardiff’s Cymru Broadcast Centre — the advanced facility developed for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. At least 25% of the production team identify as disabled, with many having previously worked with and been supported by Whisper and Channel 4. This Games will also see the highest proportion of disabled professionals in senior off-screen roles to date.

Channel 4 has served as the UK’s official Paralympic broadcaster since assuming coverage in 2012. Its London 2012 broadcasts are widely regarded as a pivotal moment in reshaping public perceptions of disability and disability sport. Oversight of the Milano Cortina Paralympic Winter Games at Channel 4 is led by Pete Andrews, Head of Sport, and Joe Blake-Turner, Commissioning Editor, Sport. Executive producers for Whisper are Matt Roberts and Dame Sarah Storey.

Following Channel 4’s successful partnership with ParalympicsGB and Toyota on the Every Body Moves initiative during the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games — which inspired disabled people across the UK to engage in sport and physical activity — Milano Cortina 2026 coverage will continue to spotlight the campaign.

Broadcasts will include a digital on-screen code linking viewers directly to the Every Body Moves portal. By entering their postcode, users can discover inclusive local sports clubs and activities, making participation more accessible and encouraging active lifestyles.

During the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, more than 83,000 people visited the Every Body Moves website for the first time.
