Strictly Come Dancing Movie Week songs and dances revealed as BBC show returns

Strictly Come Dancing 2026 is heading into Movie Week, with several songs and dances now confirmed for Saturday night’s live show — including routines inspired by Pretty Woman, Baywatch, Beauty and the Beast, A Star Is Born and Wicked: For Good.

The second live show of the new Strictly Come Dancing series will see all 15 celebrities and their professional partners take to the ballroom for the first themed night of the competition.

Some of the Movie Week routines have already been announced, with the BBC revealing the remaining dances throughout the week.

• Delta Goodrem and Kai Widdrington – American Smooth to I’ll Never Love Again from A Star Is Born
• Graeme Hall and Lauren Oakley – Waltz to The Godfather Waltz from The Godfather
• Bethany Antonia and Nancy Xu – Paso Doble to No Good Deed from Wicked: For Good
• Shaun Wright-Phillips and Alexis Warr – Salsa to You Should Be Dancing from Saturday Night Fever

The confirmed routines promise a broad mix of dance styles, from the elegance of an American Smooth and Waltz to the more energetic Cha Cha Cha and Salsa.

The full list is expected to be completed as the BBC continues to reveal the remaining movie-inspired performances ahead of Saturday night.

John Nellis leads the Strictly leaderboard

The Movie Week announcement comes just days after the first live show of the 2026 series, which saw John Nellis and Katya Jones take an early lead.

The social media star scored 31 points from the judges for his Foxtrot to Alex Warren’s Ordinary, putting him two points clear of Australian singer Delta Goodrem and Kai Widdrington, who scored 29 for their Samba.

Lacey Turner and Vito Coppola were third with 27 points, followed by Bethany Antonia and Nancy Xu on 26.

Graeme Hall and Lauren Oakley scored 24, while Dani Dyer and Nikita Kuzmin and Tabby Stoecker and Mark Karmalita both finished on 22.

Jaime Winstone and Carlos Gu scored 21, with Lawrence Robb and Jowita Przystał and Cach Mercer and Maddie Ingoldsby both on 20.

At the other end of the table, Will Best and Dianne Buswell scored 18, Chris Appleton and Amy Dowden received 16, while Melanie Walters and Aljaž Škorjanec, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Alexis Warr, and Dame Sarah Storey and Julian Caillon were tied on 15 points.

There was no elimination or public vote during the opening live show, meaning all 15 couples return for Movie Week. The judges’ scores will carry forward, with the public vote becoming part of the competition this weekend.

Strictly ratings dip for first live show

The first live show also attracted attention away from the dancefloor after overnight viewing figures fell compared with the preceding launch show.

Saturday’s programme averaged 4.8 million viewers on BBC One and peaked at five million, according to figures released by the BBC. The launch show the previous weekend had attracted a peak of 5.8 million and an average of 5.3 million.

The first live episode was nevertheless the most-watched programme of the night, with the BBC noting that overnight figures do not capture the full audience watching through on-demand services. The episode also topped the BBC iPlayer popularity chart following its broadcast.

The figures come during a significant year for the long-running dance show, which has introduced a new presenting team following the departures of Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and former professional dancer Johannes Radebe are now sharing presenting duties on the main show.

The first live programme also marked the beginning of the new-look presenting line-up in front of a live audience, with Radebe taking on a more prominent role around the contestants while Willis and Widdicombe were positioned alongside the judges.

Movie Week arrives earlier than usual

Movie Week is also arriving unusually early in the 2026 competition.

The themed episode normally appears later in the series, but this year’s second live show will put all 15 couples into movie-inspired routines just two weeks after the launch programme.

That means the first elimination of the series will follow a particularly important night for the celebrities, with the judges’ opening scores carried over and viewers getting their first opportunity to influence the results.

Among the most anticipated routines is Jaime Winstone’s Cha Cha Cha with Carlos Gu to Oh, Pretty Woman. Chris Appleton and Amy Dowden will also tackle the dance style, taking on the iconic Baywatch theme, I’m Always Here.

Delta Goodrem and Kai Widdrington will perform an American Smooth to I’ll Never Love Again, the emotional ballad from A Star Is Born, while Dani Dyer and Nikita Kuzmin will bring Beauty and the Beast to the ballroom with a Foxtrot.

Bethany Antonia and Nancy Xu face the dramatic challenge of a Paso Doble to No Good Deed from Wicked: For Good, while Shaun Wright-Phillips and Alexis Warr are set to inject some disco energy into the show with a Salsa to You Should Be Dancing from Saturday Night Fever.

Graeme Hall and Lauren Oakley will take on one of cinema’s most recognisable scores with their Waltz to The Godfather Waltz.

First guest performer revealed

As previously exclusively revealed, the first guest performance of the new Strictly series will come from the cast of Matilda The Musical.

The appearance will add another theatrical element to Saturday night’s movie-themed show, with the Matilda cast joining the celebrity couples in the ballroom.

With more routines still to be announced, viewers can expect the remaining Movie Week songs and dances to be revealed in the run-up to Saturday’s programme.

When is Strictly Come Dancing on?

Strictly Come Dancing Movie Week airs on Saturday, October 3 at 6.15pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

The first Strictly Come Dancing: The Results show of the series follows on Sunday, October 4, at 7.10pm, when the first celebrity will be at risk of leaving the competition.

With the judges’ scores from the opening live show carrying over and the public vote now coming into play, Movie Week will be the first major test of the new series.

And with several of the biggest movie songs already confirmed, the ballroom is set for another night of high drama, elaborate costumes and some very familiar Hollywood moments.
