Official Statement from the Show
Addressing her sudden absence ahead of the live show, the BBC released an official statement confirming the medical guidance and explaining how her position in the competition is affected:
A Strictly spokesperson says: “Due to injury, Jaime Winstone has been advised by doctors to rest and, as a result, she will not dance in this weekend’s Strictly Come Dancing. We wish Jaime the very best as she continues her recovery.”
Jaime Winstone Addresses Her Fans
The actress shared her heartbreak over missing the show, providing fans with details about her injury and expressing her gratitude for the support she has received:
Jaime Winstone says: “I am absolutely devastated not to be dancing this weekend due to a torn abdominal muscle. I am in considerable pain, and my doctors have advised complete rest to give my body the best possible chance to heal. As frustrating as it is, I have to put my health first and follow their advice to step away from dancing this week.
“I love every moment of dancing and performing with Carlos, and I am praying for a speedy recovery so that I can continue this magical journey.
“I want to thank everyone for their incredible support so far. It means more than you know. Wishing everyone on the show all the luck, love and strength for Saturday night and I hope to be back on that dance floor very soon. With love, Jaime.”
Jaime and Carlos in Strictly Come Dancing 2026
Jaime Winstone joined the 24th series of Strictly Come Dancing in the autumn of 2026 as one of fifteen celebrity contestants. Known for her roles in film and television—including Made in Dagenham, Babs, and her portrayal of a young Peggy Mitchell in EastEnders—Winstone was partnered with professional dancer Carlos Gu.
Carlos Gu, who won the 2025 series alongside partner Karen Carney, has been working with Jaime as they navigated the weekly routines. Under Strictly rules, a contestant who is unable to perform due to medical grounds is granted a single-week bye, allowing them to automatically advance to the following week’s round without facing the public vote or dance-off.
Fans and fellow competitors alike are sending their best wishes to Jaime and hoping for her return to the dance floor next week.
