Four celebrity teams will travel 7,500km from Malaysian Borneo to Australia as the hit adventure series returns on Wednesday 28 October.
Celebrity Race Across the World is returning to BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Wednesday 28 October from 8pm, with four new celebrity pairings preparing to embark on what promises to be the show’s wildest race yet.
The new series will see the duos set off from Kuching, the capital of Sarawak in Malaysian Borneo, before embarking on an epic 7,500km journey to their final destination of Melbourne, Australia. Taking them further from the UK than any previous race, the adventure will test their navigation skills, resourcefulness and relationships as they attempt to reach the finish line.
The first trailer and group image offer a glimpse of the journey ahead, with the teams facing a race across unfamiliar territory as they make their way towards Australia.
As in the main Race Across the World format, the celebrity pairs will need to rely on their own ingenuity to make progress, with the journey itself proving just as important as the final destination.
Who is taking part in Celebrity Race Across the World?
The new series features four very different pairings, bringing together family members and close friends for the demanding journey.
Brit Award-winning singer-songwriter Ella Eyre will compete alongside her childhood friend Nana. The pair will have to draw on their longstanding friendship as they navigate the challenges of travelling across thousands of kilometres of unfamiliar terrain.
Veteran sports broadcaster Jeff Stelling is taking on the adventure with his son Matt. Known for his years presenting football coverage, Jeff will be stepping away from the familiar world of sports broadcasting for a very different kind of challenge, with the race offering father and son the chance to share an experience far removed from their everyday lives.
Influencer Princess Andre will be joined by her brother, musician Junior Andre. The siblings will need to work together as they tackle the demanding route, with their partnership put to the test as they navigate the highs and lows of the competition.
Completing the line-up are acclaimed singer-songwriter and musician Sam Ryder and his best friend and tour manager Kaz. Used to working together in the music industry, the pair will now face the challenge of travelling across continents while attempting to stay ahead of their rivals.
With friendships, family relationships and working partnerships all represented, the four teams bring contrasting dynamics to a race that will demand cooperation as well as determination.
A 7,500km journey from Borneo to Melbourne
The starting point for the race is Kuching, in the Malaysian state of Sarawak in north-west Borneo. From there, the teams will begin their journey towards Melbourne, Australia, covering approximately 7,500km along the way.
The route takes the competition further from the UK than any previous edition, promising a fresh set of challenges for the celebrity contestants. With the finish line thousands of kilometres away, the teams will need to plan carefully, make decisions under pressure and adapt as their journeys unfold.
The vast distance means that the race is about much more than simply reaching the destination. How the pairs cope with unexpected setbacks, manage their resources and support one another could prove crucial to their chances of success.
For the celebrity contestants, the experience also offers the opportunity to see parts of the world they might otherwise never have visited, all while competing against the other teams.
When does Celebrity Race Across the World start?
Produced by Studio Lambert, Celebrity Race Across the World returns to BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Wednesday 28 October from 8pm.
The new series will follow Ella Eyre and Nana, Jeff and Matt Stelling, Princess and Junior Andre, and Sam Ryder and Kaz as they race from Kuching in Malaysian Borneo to Melbourne, Australia.
With a 7,500km route and a destination further from home than ever before, the teams face an enormous challenge. The question is which pairing will work best together, overcome the obstacles along the way and make it to Melbourne first.
