Live From London: Danny Dyer Leads Saturday Night Live UK Back to the Screen
Yes! SNL UK is back this week after a one week break. The wait is officially over for comedy fans across the country: Saturday Night Live UK returns to screens tomorrow night, Saturday, 10 October 2026, airing live at 10:00 PM on Sky One.
Stepping into the spotlight as this week’s guest host is none other than actor and cultural treasure Danny Dyer. Known for his stint on EastEnders and his cheeky, no-nonsense persona, Dyer is set to lead the cast through a fresh slate of live sketches, a cold open tackling current events, and the traditional opening monologue. Joining him as the musical guest is South London singer-songwriter Sasha Keable, who will perform two live tracks during the broadcast.

The path to bringing Lorne Michaels’ iconic American comedy institution across the Atlantic was decades in the making. While British television boasts a rich history of sketch comedy—from Monty Python to The Fast Show—the unique, high-wire format of a live, weekly late-night variety show was long considered an American staple. That changed in March 2026 when Sky partnered with Universal Television Alternative Studio and Michaels’ Broadway Video to launch the inaugural British edition, broadcasting live from London.
At the heart of the show is an energetic ensemble cast of breakthrough stand-ups, character actors, and Edinburgh Fringe favorites. Returning performers include Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, and Emma Sidi. Comedians Ania Magliano and Paddy Young return to hold down the desk as co-anchors for Weekend Update, the show’s signature news-satire segment. Joining the troupe for Series 2 is newcomer Freddie Meredith, fresh off his Edinburgh Fringe acclaim. Supporting the cast is a 20-person writing team led by Head Writer Jonno Johnson and Weekend Update Head Writer Charlie Skelton.
The gamble on the live format has paid off in cultural noise, particularly online. While traditional linear TV overnights average between 200,000 and 350,000 viewers, 7-day consolidated ratings regularly push past half a million, demonstrating a strong youth demographic that watches on catch-up. Even more striking is the show’s digital reach: SNL UK racked up more than 86 million views across YouTube, TikTok, and X in its first series alone, driven by viral parodies of British politics and celebrity culture.
Dyer joins a growing hall of fame of presenters who have taken on host duties since the show’s debut. Series 1 saw heavyweights like Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, Riz Ahmed, Jack Whitehall, Nicola Coughlan, Aimee Lou Wood, Hannah Waddingham, and Ncuti Gatwa take the stage alongside musical acts like Foo Fighters, Wet Leg, and Wolf Alice. Series 2 kicked off earlier this autumn with Jeff Goldblum, Jamie Demetriou, and Amelia Dimoldenberg. The current run shows no signs of slowing down, with upcoming hosting slots already confirmed for actor James Norton on 17 October (featuring musical guest The Streets) and stage star Cynthia Erivo on 24 October (with musical guest Blossoms).
For viewers tuning in, Saturday Night Live UK airs live every Saturday at 10:00 PM on Sky One. UK audiences can also stream the show live or on-demand via NOW with an Entertainment Membership. Across the pond, American fans can stream full episodes on Peacock following the UK broadcast.
