Last King of the Cross Arrives on ITVX as Australian Crime Thriller Lands UK Streaming Deal

Last king of the cross ITVX

ITVX is bringing Australian crime thriller Last King of the Cross to UK audiences, with the first two seasons set to arrive on the streaming platform on 1 November.

The series, starring Tim Roth and Lincoln Younes, has been acquired by ITVX through a deal with international distributor Cineflix Rights, Broadcast reports. The drama previously aired in the UK on Sky Atlantic following a pre-sale agreement ahead of its original launch in 2023.

Inspired by John Ibrahim’s best-selling autobiography, Last King of the Cross follows two brothers as they fight their way to the top of Australia’s underworld, with their pursuit of power ultimately driving them apart.

The story charts Ibrahim’s rise from a poverty-stricken immigrant with no education, money or prospects to one of Australia’s most notorious nightclub moguls.

Tim Roth and Lincoln Younes Lead the Cast

Tim Roth and Lincoln Younes star in the crime drama, which is produced by Helium Pictures, the company founded by Mark Fennessy.

Fennessy and Ibrahim serve as executive producers on the series, which features a writing team comprising Kieran Darcy-Smith, Morgan O’Neill, Jane Allen, Alastair Newton Brown, Matt Nable and James Pope.

Directing duties are shared by Kieran Darcy-Smith, Grant Brown, Catherine Millar and Ian Watson.

The series combines organised crime, family conflict and the pursuit of influence, exploring the personal cost of rising through the ranks of Australia’s underworld.

Last King of the Cross Season 3 in Development

The second season of Last King of the Cross debuted in 2024, with its Australian premiere taking place on 30 August that year. The latest season had previously been reported to have launched in May 2024.

While ITVX’s deal covers the first two seasons, a third instalment could be on the horizon. Broadcast International understands that a third season is in the works, with development currently underway.

However, further details about the potential new season, including its production schedule and release date, have yet to be confirmed.

From Paramount+ Australia to ITVX

The first season premiered on Paramount+ in Australia in 2023, where it became the streaming service’s most-watched Australian series.

Its arrival on ITVX will give UK viewers another opportunity to discover the crime drama, following its earlier run on Sky Atlantic.

Both seasons of Last King of the Cross will be available on ITVX from 1 November, bringing Ibrahim’s story of ambition, family ties and criminal power to a new streaming audience.
