HBO Max UK confirms October 2026 release dates for Backrooms and The Audacity

HBO Max has announced a major expansion of its UK and Ireland line-up, with new deals bringing A24 films and AMC Global Media series to the streaming service from October 2026.

The agreements include the UK streaming debut of BACKROOMS, the A24 psychological horror film that has become a major box-office success, as well as THE AUDACITY, a new Silicon Valley satire from Jonathan Glatzer.

The deals will also add a number of established films and TV series to HBO Max, including all six seasons of LINE OF DUTY in the UK.

When is Backrooms coming to HBO Max in the UK?

BACKROOMS will be available exclusively on HBO Max in the UK and Ireland from 26 October 2026.

The film arrives on the streaming service following a record-breaking theatrical run and is directed by Kane Parsons, who became A24’s youngest-ever feature director.

Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve lead the cast of the psychological horror film, which expands the internet’s hugely popular Backrooms phenomenon into a feature-length story.

The film follows the terrifying consequences of a doorway opening into an apparently endless labyrinth of yellow rooms, transforming one of the internet’s best-known horror concepts into a full-scale cinematic world.

BACKROOMS has already become A24’s highest-grossing film, taking more than $400 million worldwide.

Its arrival on 26 October also puts the film on HBO Max just ahead of Halloween.

What A24 films are coming to HBO Max UK?

The new A24 licensing agreement covers a mixture of first-run films and series, later-window releases and catalogue titles.

Alongside BACKROOMS, the deal includes additional first-window A24 feature films that will be announced at a later date.

The first season of BORN TO BOWL will also premiere on HBO Max on 13 October 2026.

A number of established A24 films will join the service during the agreement, including THE WHALE, WARFARE and MOONLIGHT.

The Audacity HBO Max UK release date

HBO Max will also launch THE AUDACITY exclusively in the UK and Ireland on 22 October 2026.

The streaming service has secured UK and Ireland rights to both seasons of the darkly comic Silicon Valley series from Jonathan Glatzer, with its second season scheduled to arrive on HBO Max in 2027.

Glatzer, whose credits include Succession, Bad Sisters and Better Call Saul, created, wrote and serves as showrunner on the series.

Set within Silicon Valley’s technology industry, THE AUDACITY follows data-mining CEO Duncan Park as he attempts to turn information, influence and personal ambition into greater wealth and power.

The eight-episode first season stars Billy Magnussen as Duncan Park, with Sarah Goldberg playing Dr. JoAnne Felder, Zach Galifianakis as Carl Bardolph, Lucy Punch as Lili Park-Hoffsteader and Simon Helberg as Martin Phister.

Meaghan Rath, Paul Adelstein, Everett Blunck, Thailey Roberge and Ava Marie Telek also feature.

Gina Mingacci, whose credits include Killing Eve, is also an executive producer alongside Glatzer.

Line of Duty is coming to HBO Max UK

The AMC Global Media deal also gives HBO Max a significant addition for UK subscribers, with all six seasons of the BAFTA TV Award-winning police drama LINE OF DUTY included in the agreement.

The wider AMC catalogue for the UK and Ireland will also include films such as THE SPINE OF NIGHT and ODDITY, adding to the selection of established titles available on the service.
