David Harewood leads Pierre, a new six-part Channel 4 drama about a West London solicitor who takes on the system after becoming convinced that the death of a young client was not what it seemed.
Where to Watch: Pierre starts Monday night at 9pm on Channel 4.
Pierre stars the award-winning actor as Pierre Jeffreys, a duty solicitor whose investigation into the suspicious death of a young Black client takes him into a potentially dangerous world of institutional corruption.
The series is being made by The Lighthouse, the production company behind Scoop, and brings together a sizeable British cast including Michele Austin, Jason Flemyng and Dean-Charles Chapman.
What is Pierre about?
Harewood plays Pierre Jeffreys, a West London duty solicitor who is described as charming, funny and resilient, but whose professional and personal life is becoming increasingly difficult to manage.
Pierre is struggling with the pressures of his job, a fragile personal life and financial worries when the death of a young client, Michael, changes everything.
When Pierre begins questioning the police’s portrayal of Michael as a criminal, he starts uncovering evidence that suggests there is considerably more to the case.
His investigation eventually leads towards what Channel 4 describes as a chilling web of institutional corruption.
The central question is whether Pierre can challenge the system without becoming a target himself.
Who stars in Pierre?
David Harewood leads the cast as Pierre Jeffreys.
He is joined by Michele Austin, who plays Charlotte Manners, Pierre’s joint managing partner at the solicitor’s firm.
Jason Flemyng plays DS Ronnie Miller, Pierre’s best friend.
The wider cast includes:
- Dean-Charles Chapman as Danny Headman
- Nikkita Chadha as Alecia Khan
- Christopher Fairbank as Sean Lambert
- Sara Powell as Celeste Jeffreys, Pierre’s wife
- Cherrelle Skeete as Brenda Dean

- Ezrae Maye as Michael
Harewood is particularly well known for Homeland and Sherwood, while the cast also includes actors who have appeared in 1917, Andor, Hijack, Pennyworth and Boiling Point.
David Harewood plays Pierre
The role reunites Harewood with a drama built around questions of justice, power and institutional failure.
Harewood has also taken an executive producer role on the series alongside the show’s writers and The Lighthouse’s Hilary Salmon.
Speaking about the project, Harewood said he was excited to work with the cast and described the scripts as having “real warmth”.
Who wrote Pierre?
Pierre has been created by BAFTA-winning writer and playwright Roy Williams OBE and BAFTA-nominated writer John Donnelly.
Williams is known for work including Soon Gone: The Windrush Chronicles and Death of England: Face to Face, while Donnelly’s credits include Summerwater and Utopia.
The pair are also executive producers on the series.
Who is directing Pierre?
Sarmad Masud is the lead director on Pierre.
Masud previously directed the BBC dramas You Don’t Know Me and Boarders.
Jo Johnson is the producer, with Johnson’s previous credits including Adolescence and 1000 Blows.
The series is being produced by The Lighthouse, with Hilary Salmon serving as executive producer.
When does Pierre start on Channel 4?
Channel 4 has commissioned Pierre as a six-part original drama.
However, the broadcaster has not yet announced a transmission date.
Filming has commenced in West London, and Channel 4 is expected to confirm when the series will air in due course.
That means viewers will have to wait for an official release date before Pierre can be watched on Channel 4 or its streaming service.
What can we expect from Pierre?
The premise suggests that Pierre will combine legal drama with a wider investigation into policing and institutional corruption.
At its centre is a solicitor who refuses to accept the official version of events surrounding his client’s death.
Channel 4 has teased a series that will be “witty yet truthful”, with action and major revelations promised as Pierre’s investigation develops.
With Harewood at the centre and writers Roy Williams and John Donnelly behind the scripts, Pierre is shaping up as one of Channel 4’s upcoming original dramas to watch.
Pierre starts Monday at 9pm on Channel 4.
