Wilderness with Simon Reeve has outperformed BBC1 legal drama The Split-Up in overnight ratings, with the BBC2 travel series attracting a larger audience for its second episode.
According to figures reported by Broadcast, Simon Reeve’s latest journey drew 1.1 million viewers, representing a 10.3% audience share. That was ahead of The Split-Up, which recorded 840,000 viewers and a 7.7% share.
The result marks a strong showing for Wilderness with Simon Reeve, which had opened its run with 1 million viewers (10.3%). Its second episode also comfortably exceeded its reported 840,000 slot average.
The Split-Up, meanwhile, reached the halfway point of its run with 840,000 viewers, down from its 2 million (18.1%) benchmark.
The BBC1 drama was also outperformed by ITV1’s The Blame, which attracted 1.5 million viewers (16.8%) for its latest episode. The police drama, available in full on ITVX, remained below its reported 2.2 million (20.6%) benchmark.
Elsewhere, Channel 4’s dystopian social experiment Apocalypse was watched by 310,000 viewers (3.3%). The figure was below the 364,000 (3.9%) who watched its launch a fortnight earlier, but represented an improvement on the 252,000 (3%) recorded for the previous episode.
On Channel 5, Live: NFL on 5 averaged 110,000 viewers (1.9%) across its three-and-a-half-hour broadcast from 9pm, with the figures supplied by overnights.tv from Barb data.
Big Brother continued on ITV2 with 590,000 viewers (6.4%).
Earlier in the evening, BBC1’s Antiques Roadshow dominated the 8pm hour, drawing 3.3 million viewers (30.6%). Its nearest competitor was an ITV1 repeat of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, which attracted 1.7 million (15.7%).
Channel 4’s The Great Celebrity Pottery Throwdown continued with 1.2 million viewers (11.2%), while Channel 5’s 22 Kids & Counting reached 400,000 (3.7%).
A BBC2 repeat of Pilgrimage: The Road Through North Wales attracted 230,000 viewers (2.1%).
