Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan are joining forces for a high-stakes European heist in 12 12 12, a gripping new crime thriller coming to Apple TV this November. With an audacious bank robbery, a disgraced FBI agent and a career criminal at the centre of the action, the eight-part series promises plenty of twists, double-crossing and edge-of-your-seat drama.
If you enjoy elaborate heist stories, international conspiracies and tense cat-and-mouse thrillers, 12 12 12 could be one of the most intriguing new releases to add to your streaming watchlist.
Apple TV has unveiled a first look at the upcoming series, which stars Emmy Award nominee Anthony Mackie and Golden Globe and Critics Choice Awards nominee Jamie Dornan. Both actors also serve as executive producers.
What is 12 12 12 about?
As its unusual title suggests, 12 12 12 is built around three crucial stages of an extraordinary criminal operation: the 12 days leading up to the heist, the 12 hours in which it takes place, and the 12 days that follow.
The story follows a disgraced FBI agent, played by Mackie, and an American career criminal, portrayed by Dornan, as they become locked in a dangerous game of cat and mouse across Europe.
At the heart of the action is an audacious raid on a bank vault buried deep beneath the streets of Zurich, Switzerland.
With huge sums of money, criminal ambition and law enforcement interests colliding, the operation quickly becomes a high-stakes battle in which neither man can afford to make the wrong move.
The three-part timeline also offers an intriguing structure, allowing the series to explore not only how the robbery is planned and executed, but the consequences that follow.
And with two leading men whose characters appear to have plenty to hide, viewers can expect loyalties to be tested as the story unfolds.
Who is in the cast of 12 12 12?
The series brings together an international ensemble, led by Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan.
Mackie, best known for playing Sam Wilson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, takes on the role of the disgraced FBI agent. Dornan, whose credits include The Tourist and The Fall, plays the American career criminal on the other side of the investigation.
They are joined by Jack Kesy (12 Strong, Hellboy: The Crooked Man), Agathe Rousselle (Titane), Sallie Harmsen (Blade Runner 2049), José Garcia (The Ax, Now You See Me) and Emmy Award nominee Kali Reis (True Detective, Mercy).
Behind the camera, the series is created by Dudi Appleton and Jim Keeble.
Kari Skogland, the Emmy Award-nominated and BAFTA Award-winning filmmaker, directs multiple episodes, including the pilot, and also serves as an executive producer.
The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios and Anonymous Content, with Mackie and Dornan among the executive producers.
