news about the last one laughing halloween special trailer dropping today

Prime Video has unveiled the first trailer for Last One Laughing: Halloween, giving viewers a spooky preview of the upcoming comedy special.

The Halloween edition of the BAFTA-winning UK Original will arrive on Prime Video on 23 October, with the first three episodes launching worldwide. The concluding episode will then follow on 30 October.

Returning to oversee the chaos is Jimmy Carr, who will once again attempt to keep a group of comedians under control as they try to make each other laugh without cracking themselves up.

Joining Carr is Roisin Conaty, who will serve as his deputy, while the Halloween line-up features Jack Dee, Daisy May Cooper, Phil Wang, Lou Sanders, Reece Shearsmith, Harriet Dyer and Tom Allen.

When is Last One Laughing: Halloween released?

Last One Laughing: Halloween premieres on 23 October, with three episodes available from launch.

The fourth and final episode will be released on 30 October, meaning viewers will have to wait until the following week to discover who manages to survive the Halloween-themed comedy battle.

The special will be available on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories around the world.

What is Last One Laughing: Halloween about?

The premise remains deceptively simple: the comedians must do everything they can to make their opponents laugh while keeping a completely straight face themselves.

This time, however, there is an extra challenge.

The contestants aren’t simply trying to withstand each other’s jokes and improvised antics. The Halloween special introduces a collection of creepy distractions designed to unsettle even the most confident comedian.

From cursed props and unexpected ghostly appearances to other sinister surprises, the contestants will have plenty to contend with as they attempt to remain composed.

The rules are brutally straightforward — laugh and you’re eliminated, scream and you’re eliminated.

That could prove considerably harder than usual when the room itself appears to be working against them.

Who is in Last One Laughing: Halloween?

Jimmy Carr returns as host, with Roisin Conaty joining him as deputy.

The contestants competing in the Halloween special are:

  • Jack Dee
  • Daisy May Cooper
  • Phil Wang
  • Lou Sanders
  • Reece Shearsmith
  • Harriet Dyer
  • Tom Allen

With such a varied group of comedians locked together, the challenge will be finding a way to cause maximum chaos without being the person who finally breaks.

Last One Laughing has already been a major success

The Halloween special follows an exceptionally successful first season of the UK version of Last One Laughing.

The series picked up Best Entertainment Programme at the 2026 BAFTA Television Awards, while Bob Mortimer took home the award for Best Entertainment Performance.

It also won Comedy Entertainment at the 2026 RTS Programme Awards and Best Entertainment Programme at the 2026 Broadcast Awards, as well as Best Entertainment Series at the Edinburgh TV Festival in 2025.

The format itself originated in Japan as Documental, created by and starring Hitoshi Matsumoto. It has since been adapted in more than 25 territories, with different versions featuring hosts including Jimmy Carr in the UK, Graham Norton in Ireland, Jay Baruchel in Canada and Eugenio Derbez in Mexico.

More Last One Laughing is on the way

Fans won’t have to say goodbye to the format after the Halloween special.

The first two seasons of the UK series are currently available to stream on Prime Video, while a third series is scheduled to arrive in 2027.

For now, though, the focus is firmly on Halloween, as seven comedians enter a haunted version of the Last One Laughing arena and discover whether they can keep their nerve — and their faces — until the end.

Last One Laughing: Halloween premieres on Prime Video on 23 October, with the final episode following on 30 October.
