When are the new episodes of Rivals on Disney Plus?

news about the rivals season 2 part 2 trailer being released

Fans of Rivals won’t have to wait much longer to return to the scandalous world of Rutshire, with Disney+ confirming when the remaining episodes of the hit drama’s second season will arrive.

Based on Dame Jilly Cooper’s much-loved Rutshire Chronicles novels, Rivals is returning for the second half of its latest season after a dramatic mid-series cliffhanger. The Hulu Original will continue on Disney+ in the UK and internationally, with Hulu carrying the series in the US.

When is Rivals Season 2 returning?

The second season will resume with three new episodes on Wednesday, November 11, giving viewers an immediate dose of the drama, romance and rivalry that have made the series such a hit.

The returning episodes will be Episodes 7, 8 and 9, with the final three instalments — Episodes 10, 11 and 12 — following subsequently.

Disney+ has also released a new trailer teasing the events still to come, promising that the battle for control of television in the Cotswolds is about to become even more explosive.

What happens in the new Rivals episodes?

The story picks up in the aftermath of the season’s emotionally charged mid-series finale.

Tony Baddingham and Declan O’Hara remain locked in their increasingly personal fight for supremacy, while Rupert Campbell-Black has his own battles to deal with away from the professional rivalry.

The second half of the season will take viewers through a string of increasingly chaotic events, including extravagant parties, Bonfire Night celebrations, the Hampshire Hunt Ball and a turbulent Christmas period.

As the power struggle intensifies, relationships begin to fracture and long-held secrets threaten to come to the surface. Taggie O’Hara finds herself increasingly caught between the competing forces around her and must decide whether she is finally prepared to follow her heart.

With ambition, romance and betrayal colliding, the central question heading into the final episodes is simple: who, if anyone, will get their happy ending?

Who is returning for Rivals Season 2?

The main cast is back for the second season, including David Tennant as Tony Baddingham, Alex Hassell as Rupert Campbell-Black and Aidan Turner as Declan O’Hara.

They are joined by Nafessa Williams as Cameron Cook, Bella Maclean as Taggie O’Hara, Katherine Parkinson as Lizzie Vereker, Danny Dyer as Freddie Jones and Victoria Smurfit as Maud O’Hara.

Claire Rushbrook, Oliver Chris, Lisa McGrillis, Emily Atack, Rufus Jones, Luca Pasqualino, Catriona Chandler, Annabel Scholey, Gary Lamont, Hubert Burton, Gabriel Tierney, Lara Peake and Bryony Hannah also return.

Several new faces are joining the increasingly chaotic world of Rutshire. Rachael Stirling will play Araminta Pemberton, the younger sister of Lady Monica Baddingham, while Rupert Evans appears as headmaster David Hawkley. Santiago Cabrera also joins the cast as Argentine polo star Alejandro Mendoza.

Hayley Atwell and Rupert Everett are also returning as guest stars as Helen and Malise Gordon.

Will there be a Rivals Season 3?

There is already more Rivals to come beyond the second season.

Disney+ has confirmed that the series has been renewed for a third season, with another 12 episodes ordered.

That means the conclusion of Season 2 won’t be the last time viewers see the rivalries, romances and scandals of Rutshire. For now, however, all eyes are on the remaining episodes of the current season and the fallout from its dramatic mid-series events.

With the franchise war reaching fever pitch and relationships under increasing pressure, the return of Rivals promises plenty more twists before the second season reaches its conclusion.
