Sky Cinema is bringing plenty of big-screen excitement to the festive season, with a fresh wave of movie premieres joining its Christmas line-up.
Film fans are in for a treat this Christmas, as Sky has revealed a host of additional titles heading to Sky Cinema, including the highly anticipated Michael and romantic comedy You, Me and Tuscany.
The latest announcements add to an already impressive selection of premieres, which includes Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom and Obsession, promising something for everyone to enjoy over the festive period.
Among the biggest additions is Michael, the cinematic portrayal of the life and legacy of music icon Michael Jackson. The film charts his extraordinary journey from his early days as the lead singer of the Jackson Five to becoming one of the most influential entertainers in the world. Featuring some of his most memorable performances and exploring the man behind the music, it offers audiences an opportunity to revisit the story of a global superstar.
For those looking for a little romance and escapism, You, Me and Tuscany brings a slice of Italian sunshine to the Christmas schedule. Starring Halle Bailey and Regé-Jean Page, the romantic comedy follows Anna, a young woman who escapes to Tuscany after her life takes an unexpected turn. A chance encounter leads her to a beautiful villa, where a little white lie about being engaged soon spirals into an entertaining adventure. With unexpected romance and the stunning Italian setting, it looks set to provide some feel-good festive viewing.
Families can look forward to Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom, which sees the much-loved flock preparing for Halloween before a disastrous pumpkin patch incident sends events hilariously off course. When a wild beast begins roaming the woods around Mossingham, Shaun finds himself at the centre of a monstrously entertaining adventure.
There is also plenty for viewers seeking something with a darker edge. Obsession joins the festive offering, while By Any Means, based on a true story, follows a young Black FBI agent (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) investigating the brutal killings of civil rights leaders in 1960s Mississippi. Forced to work alongside notorious mob hitman Greg Scarpa (Mark Wahlberg), he becomes caught up in a dangerous pursuit of justice.
Comedy fans can also look forward to Jackass: Best and Last, with Johnny Knoxville and the gang returning for another dose of outrageous stunts, ridiculous antics and memorable moments. Promising all-new mischief alongside some of the group’s greatest hits, it is billed as one final ride.
Elsewhere, action lovers can get their adrenaline fix with The Furious, an explosive martial arts thriller about a father desperately searching for his kidnapped daughter, while David brings the biblical story of the young shepherd’s battle against Goliath to the screen.
Horror fans have Ice Cream Man to look forward to, in which an idyllic summer town descends into madness following a series of terrifying events involving a mysterious ice cream man. Meanwhile, Savage House, starring Richard E. Grant and Claire Foy, promises dark comedy and outrageous social satire in a tale of 18th-century ambition, aristocratic excess and disastrous attempts to impress.
And, of course, Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a healthy helping of festive film favourites. Sky Cinema will also have a selection of much-loved seasonal classics available throughout the holidays.
Viewers can join Buddy in Elf, watch Jim Carrey’s unforgettable turn in How the Grinch Stole Christmas, or enjoy the animated adventures of The Grinch and Arthur Christmas. There is also the magical journey of The Polar Express, festive family chaos in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, and musical fun with Nativity!.
For something a little different, Gremlins brings mischievous mayhem, while Love Actually and The Holiday offer romantic festive comfort. And if Christmas spirit is proving difficult to find, Bill Murray’s Scrooged might just do the trick.
With big musical biopics, romantic escapism, family adventures, action-packed thrillers and plenty of Christmas favourites, Sky Cinema is shaping up to deliver a packed festive entertainment schedule.
Whether it’s a cosy night in with a Christmas classic or discovering one of the latest big-screen releases, there should be something to keep the whole family entertained this holiday season.
