Apple TV Unveils ‘Nocturne’ Trailer: Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz and Stephen Graham Lead New Crime Drama

Apple TV has released the official trailer and key art for “Nocturne,” a new 10-episode crime drama starring Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz and Stephen Graham. The series will premiere globally on Friday, October 30, 2026, with the first two episodes arriving on Apple TV followed by new episodes every Friday through December 25.

Based on the internationally bestselling crime novel “The Sandman” by Lars Kepler, “Nocturne” follows a former soldier turned homicide detective whose attempt to leave Philadelphia behind quickly turns into a fight to protect his family from a ruthless serial killer.

Schreiber stars as Jonah Lynn, an ex-soldier and homicide detective who relocates to a small town in Western Pennsylvania in search of a quieter life. His plans are shattered when the town and his family become targets of Jurek Walter, a calculating serial killer played by Stephen Graham.

When Jurek’s final missing victim becomes the focus of a desperate investigation, Jonah turns to his surrogate daughter, FBI Agent Saga Bauer, played by Zazie Beetz. The search forces Jonah and Saga into a dangerous confrontation with Jurek as they race to find the missing victim.

The newly released “Nocturne” trailer offers a first look at Schreiber, Beetz and Graham in the tense crime thriller, teasing a cat-and-mouse investigation involving a dangerous killer and the detective determined to stop him.

The series is created for television by BAFTA Award winner Rowan Joffé, who also writes, executive produces and co-showruns the drama. John Hlavin developed the series for television and serves as writer, executive producer and co-showrunner.

The cast also includes Bill Camp, Rory Culkin, Chrissy Metz, Poorna Jagannathan and Gary Carr.

‘Nocturne’ release date and episode schedule

“Nocturne” premieres Friday, October 30, 2026, on Apple TV. The first two episodes will be released on premiere day, with a new episode arriving each Friday afterward through December 25, 2026.

The series is produced for Apple TV by A+E Studios in association with Range Studios.

Emmy, Peabody and DGA Award winner Tim Van Patten directs the first two episodes and serves as an executive producer. Schreiber also executive produces, while Beetz executive produces through her production company, Sleepy Poppy.

What is ‘Nocturne’ about?

In “Nocturne,” Jonah Lynn moves from Philadelphia to rural Western Pennsylvania hoping to escape the pressures of his career as a homicide detective. His new life is upended when serial killer Jurek Walter sets his sights on the town and Jonah’s family.

The investigation takes an even more personal turn when finding Jurek’s last missing victim becomes the priority. Jonah sends FBI Agent Saga Bauer into the dangerous search, forcing the two investigators to confront a killer whose actions threaten everything Jonah has tried to protect.

‘Nocturne’ is based on Lars Kepler’s bestselling novels

The drama is based on “The Sandman,” part of the bestselling Joona Linna crime series created by Lars Kepler, the pen name of Swedish authors Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril.

The Joona Linna series comprises 10 published crime novels that have sold 20 million copies worldwide and have been translated into 40 languages, with distribution across more than 170 territories.

Alongside Joffé and Hlavin, the series’ executive producers include Lars Kepler, Øystein Karlsen, David Rysdahl, Dorothy Fortenberry and Niclas Salomonsson. Julie Herrin serves as co-executive producer, while Barry Jossen and Tana Jamieson executive produce for A+E Studios. Heather Kadin, Peter Micelli and Jack Whigham executive produce for Range Studios.

“Nocturne” premieres October 30, 2026, exclusively on Apple TV.
