David Harewood returns as the determined duty solicitor in Pierre tonight (October 12), as the gripping new legal drama takes a darker turn following the discovery of Michael’s body. With his young client’s suspicious death raising troubling questions, Pierre finds himself drawn deeper into a world of prejudice, corruption and secrets that could threaten both his career and personal life. The episode airs at 9pm on Channel 4.
Pierre is still reeling from Michael’s death
Tonight’s episode picks up in the aftermath of the shocking discovery of Michael’s body, leaving Pierre struggling to come to terms with what has happened. The West London duty solicitor has built his career on fighting for those who need someone in their corner, but Michael’s death forces him to confront the possibility that there is far more to the case than he first realised.
Pierre’s determination to uncover the truth is driven by his growing doubts about the way Michael was treated. As he challenges the police’s portrayal of the young man as a criminal, he begins to uncover disturbing questions about the circumstances surrounding his death.
However, the deeper Pierre digs, the more complicated the situation becomes. His investigation threatens to expose uncomfortable truths about the institutions that are supposed to uphold justice, putting him on a collision course with a system that may be far more interested in protecting itself than finding answers.
Alecia’s discovery leaves Pierre questioning everything
Matters become even more unsettling when Pierre’s colleague, Alecia Khan, discovers something troubling about Michael’s past. Her revelation prompts Pierre to reconsider his own judgement, raising fresh questions about how much he really knew about his young client.
For a solicitor who prides himself on understanding people and fighting their corner, the discovery could prove particularly difficult to process. Pierre must reassess what he thought he knew about Michael while continuing to search for answers about the circumstances of his death.
Alecia, played by Nikkita Chadha, is among the key figures in Pierre’s professional world, and her discovery adds another layer of uncertainty to an already complex investigation. As new information comes to light, Pierre must decide how to move forward without losing sight of the questions that matter most.
The episode promises to deepen the mystery surrounding Michael while testing Pierre’s instincts and his ability to distinguish between what he believes and what he can prove.
A new case brings another family under pressure
While Michael’s death continues to weigh heavily on Pierre, his work as a duty solicitor does not stop. Tonight, he is drawn into another case involving a family business in trouble, bringing a fresh set of problems for the already overstretched lawyer.
The new case offers a further glimpse into the pressures faced by people seeking legal help, as well as the difficult decisions Pierre must make while balancing competing demands on his time and attention.
As a duty solicitor, Pierre works on the front line of the justice system, meeting people at some of the most challenging moments of their lives. His work requires him to think quickly, navigate complicated situations and offer support to clients whose circumstances can change in an instant.
Yet his own life is far from straightforward. Charming, funny and fiercely determined, Pierre is also struggling with a fragile personal life and financial pressures that make it difficult to keep everything together. The strain of Michael’s death, combined with his latest case, threatens to push him closer to breaking point.
David Harewood leads a powerful ensemble cast
The series stars David Harewood as Pierre, a West London solicitor whose resilience is tested when he begins investigating the suspicious death of a young Black client.
Harewood, known for his performances across television and film, leads an ensemble cast that includes Dean-Charles Chapman as Danny Headman, Nikkita Chadha as Alecia Khan, Christopher Fairbank as Sean Lambert, Sara Powell as Celeste Jeffreys, Pierre’s wife, and Cherrelle Skeete as Brenda Dean.
The drama also introduces newcomers Dylan Ennis as Eli Jeffreys and Ezrae Maye as Michael, whose character’s death lies at the heart of Pierre’s increasingly dangerous search for the truth.
The cast brings together established British acting talent and fresh faces for a story that explores the personal and professional consequences of challenging authority.
Who is behind the new Channel 4 drama?
Pierre is a six-part original drama produced by The Lighthouse, the production company behind Scoop. Sarmad Masud, whose previous credits include You Don’t Know Me and Boarders, serves as lead director, while Jo Johnson, known for Adolescence and 1000 Blows, is the producer.
The series is co-written by BAFTA-winning screenwriter and playwright Roy Williams OBE, whose credits include Soon Gone: The Windrush Chronicles and Death of England: Face to Face, and BAFTA-nominated writer John Donnelly, known for Summerwater and Utopia.
The creative team has brought together a story that combines the demands of a legal procedural with a broader examination of prejudice, power and institutional accountability. Rather than focusing solely on the mechanics of a case, the drama explores the human cost of pursuing justice in a system that may not always work as it should.
Williams and Donnelly said: “Led by the brilliant David Harewood, this talented ensemble represents the very best of British talent. Bringing warmth, wit, compassion and grit to the world of Pierre. We hope audiences will be as thrilled with our cast as we are.”
Harewood also expressed his enthusiasm for the project, saying: “I’m very excited to be embarking on this journey with such fantastic actors. There’s real warmth in the scripts and amongst the cast on Pierre and we’re all thrilled to be along for the ride.”
Gwawr Lloyd, Commissioning Editor, Drama at Channel 4, said: “It’s exciting to be working with such a talented ensemble on Pierre, bringing this show’s brilliant characters to life. With the magnetic David Harewood leading the charge, this drama will be witty yet truthful, full of action and some major reveals.”
Hilary Salmon, Executive Producer at The Lighthouse, added: “We’re so lucky to have attracted such a classy cast for Pierre. All tribute to the brilliant scripts, the top-class instincts of our director and producer and the talents of our casting queens, Leo Davis and Lissy Holm.”
The drama was commissioned for Channel 4 by Ollie Madden, Director of Film4 and Channel 4 Drama, and Gwawr Lloyd, Commissioning Editor, Drama.
Can Pierre uncover the truth without putting everything at risk?
At the heart of Pierre is a solicitor who refuses to accept easy answers when something does not add up. His investigation into Michael’s death places him in increasingly uncomfortable territory, forcing him to question his assumptions while confronting the possibility that powerful forces are working against him.
The series explores the challenges of standing up to institutional wrongdoing, particularly when the people caught up in the system are vulnerable and their stories risk being overlooked. Pierre’s determination to challenge the police’s account of Michael’s life and death brings the central conflict into sharp focus.
As the latest revelations begin to reshape his understanding of the case, Pierre must decide how far he is prepared to go to find justice. With another family depending on him professionally and his own life under strain, the consequences of his choices could extend well beyond the courtroom.
Tonight’s episode promises another tense instalment of the six-part drama, with Michael’s death continuing to cast a shadow over Pierre’s work and Alecia’s discovery threatening to change the direction of his investigation.
Don’t miss Pierre, tonight at 9pm on Channel 4.
