Steve Coogan is among the guest stars joining Ellie White and Natasia Demetriou for the second series of their acclaimed surreal comedy show, Ellie and Natasia.
The new series will also feature appearances from Sian Clifford, Jamie Demetriou, Asim Chaudhry, Kiell Smith-Bynoe and a host of other familiar faces when it arrives on BBC iPlayer and BBC Two on Wednesday, October 21.
Coogan, best known for his iconic Alan Partridge character, joins the cast as the comedy duo return with a fresh collection of surreal sketches and characters.
Written by and starring White and Demetriou, the new episodes will bring back some of the show’s most popular creations, including the Mums and Internet Nails entrepreneurs Donna and Nikki.
The ambitious beauty business duo will be attempting to take their hilariously flawed empire to new heights, while the series introduces a host of new characters and situations.
Among the returning favourites and new creations will be a selection of special guest appearances, with Coogan joined by Sian Clifford of The Reluctant Vampire, Jamie Demetriou from Stath Lets Flats, Asim Chaudhry of People Just Do Nothing and Kiell Smith-Bynoe from Ghosts.
The show’s creators have also teased the breadth of its guest cast, with names including Vikki Pepperdine, Dustin Demri-Burns, Barney White, Seb Cardinal, Alex Owen, Rosa Robson and Hugh Skinner also appearing.
White and Demetriou have joked about the number of people who wanted to take part in the series, saying: “We had a lot of people begging to be in the show and sadly lots of them didn’t make the cut but the ones that did were definitely the funniest and best looking and transferred the most cash into our bank accounts. So massive congratulations to the likes of Messrs and Mmes – Sian Clifford, Vikki Pepperdine, Jamie Demetriou, Dustin Demri-Burns, Barney White, Seb Cardinal, Kiell Smith-Bynoe, Alex Owen, Rosa Robson, Hugh Skinner, Asim Chaudhry and many more including an up and coming comedian who we both have been championing for a while: Steve Coogan – expect big things from him!”
The second series follows the success of the first run, with White and Demetriou once again combining their distinctive brand of surreal comedy with a mix of eccentric characters and celebrity appearances.
The duo are known for their work across some of British comedy’s most popular shows, with White starring in The Other One and Demetriou known for What We Do In The Shadows.
The BBC series is produced by NIT TV, the joint venture between Harry Hill and CPL Productions, a Seven. One Studios company.
Ellie White and Natasia Demetriou serve as the show’s writers and creators as well as executive producers. Harry Hill, Danielle Lux and Mobashir Dar, c/o Vibrant Television, are also executive producers.
